Don't you feel uncomfortable when you are driving, and you make eye contact with the person driving the car ahead of you through their rearview mirror? You start to fiddle with the radio, check your own rearview mirror, do anything but look directly forward because you know that if you do, that eye contact will happen again. Or am I just nuts?
