What a day. I started work at 7 AM and I won't leave until after 6 pm. And what did I do all day? Wait by the phone. I'd go up, work a person's machine, and then go back to my office to wait and see if things worked. ERF. Oh well, at least I caught up with some of my email.

On another note: Happy Birthday Carmella!

It is always a bit of a shock when the students come back to campus after the summer. There's a lot of people everywhere, lots of excitement in the air. I'm always taken back a bit when I go outside and instead of one or two students, I see hundreds. When I go to the student union there are lines for everything when before there was very little waiting. Things will settle down in a week or two, as usual.

Onto another topic, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The big Windows migration project is a few weeks from being completed and things are going very well. There are still some small quirks and tweaks to be done - but I'm confident that I'll be able to go on my vacation in mid-September guilt free. I'm actually feeling better right now, like there's room to breathe. Maybe I won't be working weekends for a while after this is done!

Darts tonight. Wheee... I just hope we actually have a good night. It seems that lately we've been getting trounced night in, night out. Summer leagues will do that to ya, I guess.

I just picked up The Ziggy Stardust Companion - 30th Anniversary 2CD yesterday. Good stuff. Oh, and for the Big Media people out there I also bought Bowie's latest. I did "sample" the latest CD and guess what? That's what convinced me to buy it. That makes yet another sale of an album that was generated by file sharing instead of stopped. When will they learn?

Finally! A chance to sit down and edit the page a bit. Like I said a while ago, don't expect a lot of changes right now. Just a little "dusting off" of the page.

The comic book store that I have frequented for the past decade here in town is shutting its doors. I must now take my business elsewhere. I could see it coming, though. They weren't doing very good financially and many of the people working there had other pressing concerns outside of the store. I feel at a loss. So many "treasures" of my time here in Lincoln were connected to that place.

Here's a good joke I got from the Langalist
If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have $16.50 of the original $1,000.00. With Worldcom, you would have less than $5.00 left.

If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock) one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00.

Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
