A day that just wouldn't end

Yesterday was one of those days where the phone wouldn't stop ringing, the email wouldn't stop pouring in, and you couldn't walk ten feet before someone asked you a question.

In fact, quitting time came around and I said to the guys, "Let's get out of here before that phone rings again." We get outside of the building, on the way to the parking lot and then I get stopped for a question. It really was a day that just kept going. Not that I mind getting asked questions, that's my job after all, but it was a rather long day where nothing really got done, but a lot of "communicating".

Today - just the opposite, for which I am very thankful. My work email is finally back down to a controllable level and things are getting crossed off the to-do list. Hopefully tomorrow is more of the same.

Truth in advertising

Yesterday as I was walking out of the library, a very skinny girl was walking in. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, I work on a university campus, so there are lots of underfed girls walking around. So what made this memorable? The slogan on her t-shirt read:

"99% Fat Free"

Yep, I would believe it.

New look

As I said over on Emerald Fusion..
With Blogger's relaunch today I just felt like taking advantage of their new offerings ASAP, so this is one of their templates, but I think the content is more important than the look right now, right?

Before I forget

Just to let ya'll know, I'm heading to the old homestead tonight to clean up my parents computer. Yep, they got that Sasser virus as well, through a slow dial-up connection even..

That thing is everywhere

Thanks

Just a quick note of thanks to all of you who sent birthday greetings. I really appreciated them. By the end of the day, I finally felt like it was a "special day". Especially when several friends who I hadn't heard from in quite some time sent me birthday wishes.

The silver lining.

Yesterday was a looong day.

A few machines in the main library were showing signs of the Sasser virus, yet none had the registry key edits or files associated with the virus. They kept rebooting and rebooting, yet supposedly were clean.

We finally figured out the necessary patch to put on the machines to keep them from rebooting and got it and the latest virus updates installed, yet they still scanned clean. Very odd.

You'll notice I used the pronoun "we" in the previous paragraph. That's because the whole department got called in. All but one of us showed up, even the guy who was on his way back from a camping trip in Yankton, SD. If anything, it was encouraging to see the department come together and solve the problem instead of moaning and complaining about getting called in on the weekend. We never had to call in the whole group on a weekend before, and although it worked well - I hope we don't have to do it again.
