Bending Blogger

I just finished putting up the first "wave" of updates for the Nebraska Library Association web site and am pretty happy with the results. So what does that do with Blogger? Well, I'm using Blogger for the front page, and was able to change the rest of the pages to fit the "adapted" template. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, but I wish I had it in me to create better templates on my own.

Once, I thought of myself as a web designer, but I'm so far behind now - I'm just a talented hack. I just don't have the time anymore to create the templates, I just want to worry about the content. Maybe I can bring myself back up to speed later, but right now "bending Blogger" is all I have time for.

Some closure ... sort of

Sorry I haven't updated you all on my tenure bid, I guess I needed to resolve some stuff before I felt I could write about it.

I withdrew my name from consideration earlier this month. I talked to several people to get a feeling of how the wind was blowing, and I think I made the smart move, politically, to withdraw this year and go up again next year.

How does this make me feel? Quite honestly, I am a little disappointed in myself. I probably could have made it if I had worked harder at getting another article done this past year. I could point fingers and cast blame on others and make excuses, but in the end, I was the one who didn't get it done.

So now what? I go through the whole process again starting in October. Only this time, it is do or die time. If I don't make it this year - I've got one year to find another job. That's right. This is the "publish-or-perish" situation you may have heard of.

Thankfully, I've suddenly received a lot of offers of assistance to help me get through this year. I guess some people don't want to see me go, so that's a good thing. I'll be fine as long as I keep plugging away.

So - that's that, until October rolls around. Maybe now I can talk about some other things here until then. {grin}

New Years Resolution

It's that time again - time to decide what parts of my life I'm going to try to improve.

I've already started a new excercise program a few weeks ago and I'm really trying to watch my calorie intake.

This year I'm also going to try to spend more time keeping in touch with friends and family. As most of them would tell you I'm terrible at it. I know some may think I don't care, because I'm horrible at correspondance, but the truth is I just never think I have anything new to say.

So, two resolutions this year. I hope I can keep them.
