Things once thought lost...

My friend Tricia just emailed me with this great news. I remember the Garfield "Babes and Bullets" special from TV with great affection. It mixed two of my loves, film noir and silly cartoons. For the past year or two I've wanted a copy of it, and now it looks like it will be available on DVD in May! You can bet it is going on my wishlist!

Avoid the Ides of March

Or in my case, avoid the whole month. Yesterday, for some reason, I was convinced it was already April. Today I've been dating things as "February".

And yes, my calendar is on March, I'm just not looking at the month.

Delayed confessions

Last night I made a confession to Julie.

It went down like this:

Me: Julie, you know how a few months ago I was talking about Tibor and how he's a bad influence on me?

Julie: {nods}

Me: And you remember how the first words out of your mouth towards me was a very strong 'No'?

Julie: {again nods}

Me: Well, when you said that I was so afraid, that I didn't mention that I already had.

Julie: {double takes}

Me: That's right, I bought had bought an iPod Shuffle that morning.

Julie: {looks stunned}

Me: I was so scared, because of your reaction, that I couldn't tell you I had bought one that morning.

Julie: {starts laughing}

What did I learn? I learned that if your wife has laryngitis, that's the best time to tell her something she may not like to hear. I also learned that a geek's gadget-it is is very hard to cure. I really shouldn't have bought it in the first place, but I did.

So, add one more resolution: No more gadgets for a while!

Running

Today was a running day for me. I seemed to be always going somewhere. The bus stop, the circ department, the cataloging department, the Architecture branch, the studnet union, my office for a 5 minute lunch break, back to the Architecture library, back to the circ department, and now finally the bus stop.

Now I wasn't any busier than normal, it was just in a different location than normal.

Oh well, better occupied than bored!

You scored 93% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, and 77% Expert!

You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

The Commonly Confused Words Test

Preoccupation done?

Well, not exactly, but Julie & I are starting to make progress on our problems. Now since I said "problems", people are going to wonder, "what type of problems"?

Well, like almost every body of our age who at least started college, we have problems of the financial sort. It's not relationship problems, it isn't that we were abducted by aliens, it wasn't any thing but money.

Besides - who doesn't have some sort of money problem in some point of their life?

Now I'm not saying this to try to win some "Red Ink Badge of Courage", but just to let everyone know that I'm fine, Julie's fine, Pepper's fine - we just hit a snag and now we are working on it.

We've also gotten some advice from her parents and mine, so we think we have some pretty good ideas on how to take care of it.

You'll notice that I don't have any type of wish list or tip jar or storefront-type of thing on this site right now. I want to make the point that I'm not doing the virtual begging thing. I'm not looking for pity, I'm just informing you about why I have been so preoocupied lately.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about a month behind on finishing a redesign project.
