My pyramid plan.

The US government has released their new, updated plan at MyPyramid.gov and I thought I would share with you my results:
My Pyramid

Based on the information you provided and the average needs for your age, gender and physical activity [Age: 32, Sex: male, Physical Activity: Less than 30 Minutes] your results indicate that you should eat these amounts from the following food groups daily.

Your results are based on a 2200 calorie pattern*.
Grains 7 ounces
Vegetables 3 cups
Fruits 2 cups
Milk 3 cups
Meat & Beans 6 ounces

tips

1 Make Half Your Grains Whole
Aim for at least 3.5 whole grains a day

2 Vary Your Veggies
Aim for this much every week:

Dark Green Vegetables = 3 cups weekly
Orange Vegetables = 2 cups weekly
Dry Beans & Peas = 3 cups weekly
Starchy Vegetables = 6 cups weekly
Other Vegetables = 7 cups weekly

Oils & Discretionary Calories
Aim for 6 teaspoons of oils a day

Limit your extras (extra fats & sugars) to 290 Calories

*This calorie level is only an estimate of your needs. Monitor your body weight to see if you need to adjust your calorie intake.

I looks like I should become vegetarian. 6 ounces of meat for a day? I guess no more 14 ounce steaks for me.{grin} So, what's yours?

Can't wait to be back home

Just a quick post while I'm waiting at the airport to go home.

Things I did not see:
The White House
The Library of Congress
much of the outside worlds

Things I wish I hadn't seen:
A hairy guy in a blue speedo sunbathing just outside my window at the hotel.

Check back tonight when I type up my notes from the conference. There will be some regarding the five libraries that are working with Google to digitize portions of their collections.

Rough Landing

I just landed in D.C. and survived a rather turbulant landing. I don't think that the plane is supposed to shift horizontally as it did when it is approaching the runway. There were a lot of airsickness bags on the ready.

Lucky touchdown was fine and we all breathed deeply, thankfull we were back on terra firma.
