Stupid things men do

Every so often in a man's life, they get the urge to do something that isn't particularly good for them. In fact, it might be considered foolish. Well, today for lunch, my friend Jason & I did just that.

We went to Burger King and tried their BK Quad Stacker. 4 patties of meat, 3 slices of cheese, bacon and a special sauce. OOF! That was a lot of meat! It was much more than I usually eat for lunch.

What was better is that we had an audience. That just fueled the ambiance of "Hey! Watch This!" Stacy, Angela & Melissa joined us. They ate sensible meals while Jason & I tried to finish the behemoth burgers. Jason finished his, I did not. I was down to two bites left, but there wasn't any way I was finishing that thing.

So there you go, men sometimes do stupid things. There's no getting around that. Luckily some of our stupid things aren't lethal. At least, not in the short term. Erf, I'm full.

Stacy & Angela have posted their reactions to our tribute to stupidity.

Under a big sky

Julie & I went to visit my parents this last weekend. While driving home, I was suprised on how low the horizon is once you get closer to the Republican Valley area. I shouldn't have been suprised, as I lived out there for a long time, but for some reason I was really affected by the fact I could see for miles and miles with nothing inbetween except a clump of trees or some telephone poles. Apparently, I've been away far too long.

Living out there puts things in perspective. You can watch the storm clouds roll in. You can feel that there is a much larger picture in life, if you just stop and look at it. You get a good sense that you are a part of a much larger world.

I read a phrase recently that struck me as well, "Some people live to work while others work to live." I've been living to work a lot lately, and I don't like it. Reading that phrase and having that drive out West, gave me a wake-up call about how I'm living.
